QTR IV 2024

The Social Roots Foundation held a meeting on December 29, 2024, via Zoom, with a quorum present. Financial updates included a $3,900 balance in the Chase account, a $204 website renewal fee, and ongoing monthly service fees. Grant applications were submitted for multiple opportunities, including $150,000 from the NBA Foundation, with a $10,000 grant already awarded for the “Miss ATTITUDE” youth program launching in August 2025. The board unanimously approved new members Jhazmyne Stover, Tania Stewart, and Ashley Mann, Esq., along with Rashawnda Brown as Treasurer. Warren Hampton’s resignation from the board was accepted. The meeting concluded at 7:39 PM.

QTR III 2024

The Social Roots Foundation held its quarterly meeting on October 6, 2024, via Zoom. Financial updates included a current account balance of $4,104.21, with $4,000 disbursed for scholarships and $338.26 raised from fundraisers. The foundation received a $500 donation from Team24 and advanced to the second round for a $10,000 grant proposal with the Arizona Community Foundation. New fundraisers were announced, including Miss Fields Cookies and ongoing merchandise sales, while board changes were discussed, with motions made to remove inactive members and review new candidates for the December meeting.

QTR II 2024

The Social Roots Foundation held its quarterly meeting on June 23, 2024, via Zoom. Financial updates included a Chase account balance of $7,302.91, monthly service fees, and recent purchases for scholarship awardees. The board reviewed and voted on candidates for the Bernice Kaibetony and ATTITUDE Scholarships, selecting two recipients for each. Grant updates noted submissions to three grants, with one still undecided and two declined.

QTR I 2024

The Social Roots Foundation held its meeting on February 19, 2023, via Zoom. Financial updates included managing $745 in funds and the Dougherty Foundation’s ongoing 50% donation match for scholarships, with a $1,500 scholarship set to launch in March. Plans for a popcorn fundraiser and marketing strategies for scholarships were discussed, alongside ideas for a mentorship program to support scholarship recipients. The board also explored platforms for managing applications and potential outreach through the Black College Expo to target HBCU students.

QTR IV 2023

The Social Roots Foundation held a meeting on December 17, 2023, where financial updates were provided, including a decrease in the Chase account balance from $1,108 to $858.91 due to a $204.09 charge for the website and domain subscription. The Quarter IV fundraiser, ATTITUDE 4, has raised a pledged donation of $700 with the purchase of 14 tickets, and the Cagnolatti-Daniels Family Foundation projected $4,500 for scholarships in 2024. Scholarship applications for the ATTITUDE and Bernice Kaibetony Scholarships will open in March 2024, and plans for a scholarship award ceremony will need to be made. The meeting was adjourned after board member announcements.

QTR III 2023

The Social Roots Foundation held a meeting on September 10, 2023, via Zoom. Key updates included the addition of Paris to the Chase account, and no new grant updates were provided. The Foundation's bank account had a balance of $1,108, with a $20 donation from Network for Good. The Quarter II fundraiser options were Krispy Kreme or Miss Fields, and the ATTITUDE event currently had $250 raised with a projected sale of 100-150 tickets. There were no updates on the scholarship program. The meeting was adjourned after board member announcements.

QTR II 2023

The Social Roots Foundation held a meeting on June 11, 2023, with all members present. Updates included submitted grant applications totaling over $535,000, financial management transitions, and plans for a Quarter II fundraiser. The board approved increasing the cost of the ATTITUDE event to generate scholarship funds for Black women pursuing careers in social work or public health. Additionally, the Arizona Community Foundation offered a 50% match for the family endowment, potentially boosting scholarships for Fall 2024. Four scholarship applications were under review.

QTR I 2023

The Social Roots Foundation met on February 19, 2023, via Zoom, with a quorum present. Financial updates included a balance of $745 in the Social Roots account, with no funds in the Chase account. The Dougherty Foundation will continue matching donations for scholarships, aiming to raise $1,000 to provide a $1,500 scholarship, with a potential match of up to $25,000. The 2023 Bernice Kaibetony Scholarship will launch in March, and plans for a popcorn fundraiser and mentorship program were discussed. Additionally, the board considered using platforms like Google Forms or Survey Monkey for managing scholarship applications.
